The Addams Family resurged in popularity in November 2022 when Jenna Ortega performed the titular role in Netflix’s coming-of-age series Wednesday. With Season 1 wrapped up and Season 2 on the way, Netflix announced a spin-off series focused on Uncle Fester portrayed by Fred Armisen. Armisen made an appearance in the seventh episode where Uncle Fester used electricity powers to bring Thing back to life. Armisen gained fame with performances in Saturday Night Live and Portlandia. More recently, the actor appeared in Barry, History of the World Part II, Unstable, What We Do in the Shadows, The Kids in the Hall, Our Flag Means Death, Schmigadoon, Moonbase 8, and Shrull in addition to co-creating and starring in Los Espookys.

Filming for Season 2 of Wednesday will begin in late April in Ireland while filming for the first season took place in Romania. Netflix has revealed little information about the Uncle Fester spin-off or the second season of the main show. However, the streaming platform the show creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, known for Smallville, suggested that the new season would expand Wednesday’s relationship with her mother Morticia Adams, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, and focus more on horror elements rather than teen romance.
