Warner Bros. Drops Teaser Trailer With Footage From 'Black Adam', 'The Flash', 'The Batman' And 'Aquaman 2'

DC

Last year was an odd year for Warner Bros regarding film releases. All of their movies were released simultaneously in theatres and on HBO Max. As a result, the traditional way of measuring success, a box office metric, was out of the question. However, with theatre exclusivity returning in 2022 and the recent tease of all their big releases, Warner Bros sure has come out of the gate strong from a marketing standpoint.

Their DC IPs are some of their biggest moneymakers and fan favorites. Four titles are set to go exclusively to theatres for 45 days before heading over to HBO Max. Those are The Batman, Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. Warner Bros has now released a teaser showing footage from each of the four films set to release this year, and it has some sweet reveals and some enticing plot points.

Let's start with The Batman, the film that did not need the additional teaser but seeing more hype is always a bonus for the most popular character on their roster. The Batman clips show Selina Kyle encouraging Bruce to embrace his heroic side and do what is necessary to save the people of Gotham city. It lends to what we already know: Bruce is struggling with what is right and wrong and trying to find a moral ground to stand on. The Batman is set for release on March 4th.

Black Adam teases the secondary characters and members of the JSA, which includes Atom Smasher, Dr. Fate, and Cyclone and Hawkman. We get our first glimpse of them, including a very detailed look at all of their suits. Dr. Fate and Atom Smasher look comic book accurate, and Hawkman, who has a new design, looks fantastic. Dwayne Johnson has said this movie has been a long time coming and based on this first look, it seems visually delightful. Black Adam will make its way to theatres on July 29th.

Ezra Miller returns as Barry Allen, aka The Flash, and the teaser gives us a better look at his suit and eye protection. It looks cooler this time around and will likely look even cooler in action when the film releases. It also teases Michael Keaton with a narrative about opening up the multiverse and what comes with it. The Flash will be the DCEUs first deep dive into that concept, so it will be very cool to see how that all comes together plot-wise. The Flash will race its way on screens on November 4th

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is the least teased out of all the movies, but the brief tease has Aquaman wondering if being a hero is more rewarding than just being a king. Director James Wan has confirmed the sets will be more exotic than the previous one. Aquaman 2 will see Momoa return as Arthur Curry and Amber Heard return as Queen Mera. Details of the plot are scarce at the moment, but with the track record of James Wan, it is sure to be a delight. The current tide has Aquaman 2 scheduled for release on December 16th, just before the Holidays.

DC seems to be heading down the right path. The only criticism seems to be that they are not building towards a massive crossover, but that is okay. Instead, each film has felt like a comic book adventure ripped right from the long-standing history of the comics. Some things have been slightly reinvented for the film, but overall, Warner Bros has done a great job bringing these amazing and dynamic characters to life on the big screen.
