Upcoming ‘Marvel Studios: Legends’ Episodes Will Feature Loki And The Tesseract

With only a couple weeks to go until Loki graces our screens, Disney has announced the next two Marvel Studios: Legends episodes will be titled "Loki" and "The Tesseract," setting fans up for some fun.

The Marvel Studios: Legends series began back in December of 2020, and it would be set as a clip show series, with each episode focusing on a specific character or object within the MCU and containing footage from previous films. The episodes themselves wouldn't be any more than 6-8 minutes long and would go on to receive praise from Marvel fans as they could also serve as a reminder of their journey so far, including ongoing story arcs yet to receive a conclusion.

Based on the episodes so far, it's petty much been aimed to coincide with the Marvel TV shows which have been released previously, to huge success, as the first episodes were called "Wanda Maximoff" and "Vision." Each episode focused specifically on their individual characters and what they've been through so far within the MCU. This was perfect timing for WandaVision.

The following four episodes were "Falcon," "The Winter Soldier," "Zemo," and "Sharon Carter," again covering the main characters who would appear in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

With Loki being the next series to come out, it seemed logical that it would also be the next episode. However, it surprised fans to find out that the episode after would be called "The Tesseract."

First reported by What's on Disney Plus, these will be next episodes of the Legends series and will both premiere on on Disney+ Friday, June 4, 2021. This will give fans the chance to remind themselves of Loki's story up until now, and it will also remind us that the Loki we are about to follow is not the same one we tearfully said goodbye to in Infinity War. Remember, this Loki is the one who escaped after the Battle of New York in 2012. He won't have gone through any of the events the "real" Loki did between the first Avengers film and Infinity War.

As much as the Infinity Stones will logically still have to weave through most of the franchise, them being the ultimate drive behind it all is over. For now at least. However, again, it does make sense for the Tesseract to play a part of the narrative in Loki, as it is what he uses to escape in the first place.

Despite the fact that there hasn't been much seen of the box wielding an Infinity Stone in the marketing leading up to the show, it's hardly unlikely that it's not going to play a part. I don't imagine Loki using it and then just dumping it. He's probably going to want to keep a hold of it, so we might see some cool scenes of Loki wielding the power of the stone. Plus, it serves as a nice little break away from an actual character, as it will be the first episode of this series to focus on an object.

With the Loki series already rumored to feature an appearance by Kang the Conquerer, a role Jonathan Majors will fulfill if and when he appears, as well as Loki likely working with the TVA (Time Variance-Authority) to help fix the timelines now that he's basically created his own (remember what the Ancient One said about timelines, it can't be good), there's scope for a lot of avenues in which the story can travel down. This potentially expands on the premise being set for Phase 4 of the MCU, in which the Multiverse seems to be getting a lot of attention at the moment. Could it be too much to expect a little cameo from Doctor Strange or even Wanda?

Regardless of the overall plot, most fans are just pleased to see Hiddleston reprise his role as the God of Mischief. Hiddleston has garnered quite the following for his portrayal, and a lot of his fans felt the character got a bit of a bum deal in Infinity War. Not bad for a character who wasn't actually supposed to appear in anything after Thor.

We'll get our answers and more when Loki premiers on Disney+ June 9.

Until next time!
