Fans of Disney’s Andor will soon be headed to an iconic site in a galaxy far, far away. Director Tony Gilroy revealed in an interview with Collider that season 2 of the series will take the rebellion to Yavin.

In the interview, Gilroy revealed the series’ journey to Yavin while praising writer Tom Bissel, saying:

“Tom Bissell is really cool and really, really interesting, versatile, really good writer. But also a very, very, very big Star Wars fan, which we really wanted to make sure we had another pro because we’re going into Rogue [One], and we’re going to Yavin, and then we’re going into places where we eventually need to really weave our way back to the source.”

Yavin features heavily in the first film of the original Star Wars trilogy A New Hope as the headquarters of the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. In the film’s conclusion, Luke Skywalker famously destroys the Death Star with a well-placed shot before it has the chance to demolish the rebel base on Yavin. Within the Star Wars fandom, the Battle of Yavin stands as a clear delineator of time; BBY (Before Battle of Yavin) and ABY (After Battle of Yavin) are used to describe events in the Star Wars timeline.

As the events of Andor lead to their inevitable conclusion in Rogue One, Gilroy plans to expand upon the legacy of Yavin. This resistance headquarters will undoubtedly prove important to Cassian’s own journey as a rebel spy.

Gilroy also confirmed in his interview that Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios will join the series as directors, and his brother, Dan Gilroy, will join the writing room with Beau Willimon. In addition, he revealed that filming for Andor’s second season will begin on November 21. Until then, fans have plenty more action in store in the final few episodes of what has been a riveting first season.

Andor is available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
