This One Battle Almost Lost The Republic The Clone Wars

Throughout the time of the Clone Wars, there are many great battles within the galaxy. These battles end up leaving the Republic weak, bankrupt, and helpless. The war includes one battle that could have ended the Galactic Republic, and given the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) its victory. In episode two of season three of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, titled "ARC Troopers," the CIS tries to steal Jango Fett’s DNA from the cloning facility on the planet Kamino.

The CIS manages to break the Republic defenses, and breaks into Kamino’s capital city, Tipoca City. The Republic’s top soldiers, the ARC Troopers, fight on the side of Kamino during this battle. The CIS manage to set a trap that involves using aquatic droids to infiltrate the capital city and steal Jango Fett’s DNA.

The attack is led by the nefarious cyborg and commander of the droid army, General Grievous, and Dooku’s top assassin, Asajj Ventress. This is a massive battle that leads the clones defenseless, as not only are their lives were in danger, but the lives of thousands of young clones, and trainees alike are also in danger.

Thankfully, the 501st, the ARC Troopers, and Jedi Generals Kenobi and Skywalker lead the defense inside Tipoca City. The Republic is successful at defending Kamino, retrieving the stolen DNA capsule from Ventress, and forcing the CIS forces to retreat.

A loss for the Republic here means losing the means to keep producing clones for their army, and their army losing their entire forces, giving the CIS their victory once it for all. Hitting Kamino is a very risky maneuver done by the CIS that, if successful, could potentially cause the war to end, probably leading to a whole new beginning for the galaxy.

The Republic’s confidence is always its weakness. They are so confident that Kamino is protected that they manage to lose their defenses to the droid army and make a clear way for the CIS to attack Kamino. Like the attack on Coruscant, the CIS proves to the Republic once again that their defenses are weak, and that they are way too confident.

Although this tragic battle almost brings the Republic to its end, it also prove the amazing battles skills of clone trooper Fives and Echo. These troopers have fought against many CIS forces and are worthy to be assigned to the ARC Trooper division after the battle.

This battle also shows that every clone is brave enough to protect their home. During the battle, maintenance clone Ninety-Nine proves to his brothers that he can fight alongside them, even if he is a defective clone. He helps Fives and Echo protect several clone cadets, and also shows them how to get to the quickest access of the city, in order to gain advantage over the enemy.

Unfortunately Ninety-Nine loses his life while gathering more ammunition for his brothers Fives and Echo. The bravery and courage his life is honored by the troopers after the Battle of Kamino, and even a top elite unite of special gifted clones is named after him.

The Battle of Kamino is one to be remembered by both sides of the war, as it shows the Republic its weakness, and it shows the CIS that they are not prepared for victory just yet. Clones fight for Kamino as it it is their home, so this battle is not just another battle to attend; it is a personal attack to their home, their birth place. Battles like this one are moments that make Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a memorable series that expands the prequel era.
