'The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants' Set To Release In December 2025

Nickelodeon is treating fans of the sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea to another big screen event. Announcing the project at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants has already been dated, with it arriving in theatres on December 19, 2025.
Along with the logo reveal, the synopsis for the film states that SpongeBob will head to the depths of the ocean to square off with the Flying Dutchman’s ghost. There is the potential for some interesting new locations when it comes to the ocean’s depths, with the same being said for the Netflix exclusive Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, which will see SpongeBob and Sandy Cheeks venture to Texas to recruit Sandy’s family to rescue the entirety of Bikini Bottom. That spin-off is set to arrive sometime this year.

Along with its own series and films, the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise has been crossing over into others over the last few years. CinemaCon has provided plenty of news for film fans, with Transformers One being among the new announcements to come from the event.
