What often starts as a show for young children transcends the intended demographic and becomes a sensation; going viral and creating an emotional connection with children and adults. Upon the premiere of the Australian television show Bluey, each seven-minute segment entertained and brought the show overall a rating of 9.4/10 on IMDB and a three-season run. Most recently, Bluey diverged from its typical episode runtime and released a 28-minute special on April 14 called “The Sign.” This newly released special brought more than 10 million viewers upon its first week on Disney+ according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Breaking down the 10 million views in the first week of “The Sign”’s release, the 10.4 million views “translates to about 291.2 million minutes of viewing” across the globe. In the United States alone, Bluey’s 150-episode library draws “an average of 1.19 billion minutes” of viewing per week, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings. This equates to “slightly under” 8 million minutes per episode. An amazing feat for a television program aimed at the pre-school demographic.

“The Sign” episode focuses on the Heeler family considering selling their home and moving as the patriarch Bandit accepts a new job in addition to attending a family wedding. A simple storyline that brought the show wide acclaim and a slew of concerns about Bluey coming to an end. These concerns have yet to be confirmed. Bluey’s creator, Joe Crumm, stated how BBC asked him to “never talk about the kids’ voices or the future of Bluey”. With this statement and the most recent episode being released on the 21st of April, children and adults have plenty of moments to share with the Heeler family.
