The Nintendo Switch Has Surpassed 132 Million Units Sold And Still Growing
The Nintendo Switch has reached an exciting milestone: according to Nintendo’s recent Quarterly fiscal earnings report, the console has reached 132.46 million units sold! This milestone keeps the console at the third-best-selling console of all time, and it has the potential to keep climbing.
The past few games released for the Switch have done well. According to the financial report, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has reached 19.5 million units sold and Pikmin 4 has reached 2.61 million. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a port from the Wii U that was released in 2017, has also done rather well with 3.22 million units sold. The immediate future is promising for Nintendo as well. Super Mario Bros. Wonder dropped very recently, giving fans a brand-new experience compared to the standard Mario game, a Switch-exclusive.

The Switch has surpassed Gameboy sales by about 13.77 million units at this point. The console is creeping toward the DS’s level as well; the Nintendo DS is the company’s best-selling console during its lifecycle, hitting a sales number of 154.02 units. The Switch has sold about 10 million units since February, so there is a fair possibility that it will eventually overtake the DS.
The Nintendo Switch turns seven on March 3, 2024. It is still going relatively strongly with plenty of games scheduled for release in the coming year. Very little information has been released regarding the next Nintendo console at this time.
