One of the GTA 6 hackers was arrested for his part in hacking Uber, Nvidia, and Rockstar Games. He is among many members of the international cyber gang known as Lapsus$. 18-year-old Arion Kurtaj hacked into Rockstar Games, the company responsible for the Grand Theft Auto series, while technically in custody for hacking Uber and Nvidia, among others, at a Travelodge Hotel using an Amazon Firestick, his hotel TV and a mobile phone.

Kurtaj is a person who has autism. He was determined to be unfit to stand trial for his crimes due to his diagnosis. However, a mental health assessment was used as part of his sentencing hearing and determined that the teenager "continued to express the intent to return to cyber-crime as soon as possible. [And that] He is highly motivated." The hackers cost their victims almost $10m; Rockstar stated in court that the leak cost the company $5m, not to mention the number of staff hours to recover. Kurtaj’s attorneys argued that his attack on Rockstar didn’t cause serious harm to the company and requested that the judge consider that in terms of sentencing. Judge Lees disagreed with the defense as she commented that there were individual victims and other companies that Kurtaj attacked with Lapsus$ as well. The judge considered Kurtaj’s diagnosis and the mental health assessment. She determined that his skills and desire to continue hacking with Lapsus$ made him a high risk to the public. He was sentenced to a secure hospital for an indefinite amount of time.
