Time. This will be a fundamental element to Scott and Cassie Lang in the next installment of the Ant-Man series, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. In a recent interview with Nerdbunker, Director Peyton Reed commented about Cassie’s relevance in the movie’s plot.

According to Reed, the most important aspect to be considered in the movie is that Cassie had aged considerably since the first one when she was a child. Things changed during this time, especially because of the time jump in the MCU. She was seen during 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, but Emma Fuhrman played her, not Kathryn Newton, the current actress. In the next Ant-Man movie, she will be even more important. Reed argues that Cassie is (during the events of Quantumania) already an adult and will express her own opinions.

Scott will have some difficulty regarding these changes to his family and life in general, sometimes struggling to be ok with it:

“I love the idea of Scott still relating to Cassie as a kid, but she’s not, she’s a young adult now” (...) She has her own ideas of what it means to do good in the world, and she’s trying to find her voice as a hero. She can also be a little critical of her father. That seemed really rich, something very relatable with families because you don’t always tell your parents everything that you do; they don’t always tell you everything they’ve experienced.”

Considering that, from what it is possible to take from the movie’s trailer, Cassie’s newfound abilities and freedoms could clash with the unknown of the Quantum Realm, a mysterious place that Michele Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne had been stuck at for quite a while. Both Scott and Hank Pym also visited this realm but had unpleasant visits to the location.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania will premiere in cinemas on February 17th, 2023. All characters and protagonists from the previous installment will return, with the addition of Jonathan Majors as the powerful Kang The Conqueror, who will be the movie’s focal point.
