Grab your guns and get ready, because the Borderlands movie now has an official release date for digital platforms. Released in theaters this August 9, the 30th is the next release date for this adaptation of Gearbox Software’s seminal video game franchise; produced by many of the same people behind the Uncharted film, including director Eli Roth. This adaptation, though highly anticipated, has seen negative reviews across the board. However, nothing is stopping any readers from checking out the movie themselves, just as long as they are prepared if the movie does not meet their expectations.

The Borderlands film features an all-star cast, including Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jack Black as the voice of Claptrap, Kevin Hart as Roland, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, and Florian Martineau as her enforcer king. The film follows the game’s premise of a group of characters looking for a secret vault said to contain a ton of loot. However, to do this they must traverse a “dumpster fire of a planet” filled with enemies and danger. Though how good of an adaptation it is is debatable, the film is certain to leave a mark on the history of video game adaptations.
