'The Acolyte' Will Be Filming Throughout April With Actor Lee Jung-jae

Some may recognize actor Lee Jung-jae from the movie Hunt (2022) or the show Squid Game (2021). Recently he’s been cast as a lead in a Star Wars project, The Acolyte. In an interview with Ilgan Sports (obtained via AllKpop), the actor opened up about his experience a bit; in classic Disney fashion though, he “was told not to talk about it as much as possible.”

Plot details for The Acolyte have been kept pretty well under wraps. We know it’s set during the High Republic era, focusing on a Jedi and Padawan as they attempt to root out the cause of some crimes; what they find is darker than imagined. Rather than feeding more plot details, Lee gave insight regarding the filming experience overall.

The actor has been in the business for a long time, around 30 years. Comparing his experience in Korea versus the U.S., Lee said that there are “many aspects of the work which are similar,” but that “filming sets in Korea are actually more efficient.” From his position on set, he said “it seems that filming will run until March or April.” Check out the full statement below!

Of course, there are aspects I am learning from as well.”

Other details are being kept pretty tight for The Acolyte as well, including an exact release date. The filming estimate from Lee Jung-jae as well as fellow cast member Dafne Keen hitting an April wrap-up indicates a late 2023 to 2024 window. It will be 8 episodes long, streaming exclusively on Disney+.
