Taika Waititi Says He Would Return To Direct 'Thor 5' Under One Condition
The newest installment of Thor's story was released this past weekend. Thor: Love and Thunder features Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor, as well as Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Taika Waititi as Korg, and Natalie Portman returning as Dr. Jane Forster aka. The Mighty Thor. As is the tradition with Marvel movies, there are two post-credits scenes at the end of the Thor movie. What comes after those scenes are the words "Thor will return."
Even though Thor 5 has not yet been greenlit, Chris Hemsworth has said he is down to play Thor again. While the post-credit message actually came as a surprise to director Taika Waititi, he said he would be down to direct again under one condition: as long as Chris Hemsworth returns. He elaborated further:
"...it would need to be something surprising and unexpected for me to want to do it. Like what would be the new take? The battles and all the fighting is fine, but I would want something that feels unexpected when it comes to the story."
While there are no plans for Thor 5 yet, there is hope for another great Thor movie, especially if both Hemsworth and Waititi were to return. Perhaps the god of thunder will return in another solo movie or in a different context.
