The original Suits successfully ran nine seasons on USA Network from 2011 to 2019. It starred Patrick J Adams, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle, Gina Torres, and Sarah Rafferty. The hit series streamed on Netflix, as well as Peacock, and clocked 45 billion minutes of streaming time between the two platforms. Due to the resurgence of enthusiasm over all those lovely people in lovely suits, it is no surprise that the jury of faithful viewers will receive the new content they unanimously voted for… i.e., a spinoff series. NBC announced earlier in February that a spinoff is indeed on the docket. Production is expected to begin in Vancouver in March. Stephen Amell has been cast to lead the new team in Suits: LA.

Amell, best known as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on The CW’s Arrowwill play Ted Black, “a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others.” The LA firm will specialize in both criminal and entertainment law. The official logline for the series says, “His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”

President of Universal International Studios and UCP, Beatrice Springborn, shared that the show takes place in the same universe as its predecessor and has “the same energy and good-looking people that the original did.”
