‘Stranger Things' Getting A Saturday-Morning-Cartoon Animated Series On Netflix
The nostalgic feeling of Saturday morning cartoon marathons is about to be recreated. An untitled Stranger Things animation project was recently announced by the Duffer brothers. Eric Robles will join the brothers, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen of production company 21 Laps as an executive producer. Production is being handled by Flying Bark Productions.
In the announcement (via Netflix), the Duffer brothers said, “We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling.” For those who didn’t grow up with that experience, they’ll have the chance to experience it as well!

The process has begun for creation and development. The brothers continued, “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with. The scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…” You may recognize Robles for his production work on Nickelodeon’s Fanboy & Chum Chum (2009-2014) and more recently Glitch Techs (2020), as well as some design work on The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
The plot is being kept under wraps at the moment, as well as casting and character possibilities. The release date for this cartoon and Stranger Things Season 5 have not been released yet. In the meantime, Seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix. There is also a play entitled Stranger Things: The First Shadow being performed in London’s West End to catch if you’re in the area!
