Fans rejoice when a few days ago, Stephen Amell announces his return to Arrowverse. Amell has posted a picture of him with Grant Gustin with the simple caption: “When Barry calls, Oliver answers.”

It has been almost three years since the final episode of Arrow aired on January 28, 2020. Along with his Arrow co-star David Ramsey (John Diggle/Spartan), Amell will be appearing in the final season of The Flash in addition to Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork). It is almost poetic to have Green Arrow himself close out the series (and Arrowverse) since Barry Allen/The Flash made his first on-screen appearance in Season 2 of Arrow.

No stranger to social media, Amell gave a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what he is working on.

There is not much to go off from this picture of a production chair bearing his name other than confirming what everyone already knows, that he will be in The Flash

It is unclear what role Oliver Queen will play in Episode 909 of The Flash. In the series finale of Arrow, the Green Arrow became the Spectre and sacrificed himself in his fight against the Anti-Monitor to reconstruct the universe. There was a funeral. Then, we saw the Monitor brings his wife Felicity to a pocket dimension where she reunites with Oliver in the afterlife. However, the Flash’s ability to affect timelines may bring back the hero after all.

As Amell pointed out in another Instagram post, “Why? Doesn’t matter. How? Doesn’t matter.”

He has appeared as Oliver Queen, Green Arrow, Spectre, Dark Arrow, and the Flash in Arrow, and cross-over episodes of other shows in the Arrowverse. He could easily return as any of these characters. Stephen Amell is quite active on social media so he might just post more hints and sneak peeks in the near future.

The final season of The Flash airs on The CW on February 8.
