'Star Wars' Suggests Luke Skywalker's Hand Ended Up On Exegol
One of the greatest mysteries within Star Wars is where Luke’s right hand ended up after his duel with Vader in Cloud City. Some of the questions that fans have asked have been answered throughout many books, comics, games, and other forms of expanded content. The whereabouts of Luke’s hand might have been answered in the latest issue of the Greg Pak's Darth Vader comic series, with the arc being titled "Into the Fire." The comic takes place right after Episode V and follows Vader being tested by the Emperor, as he is hunted down by Sith Assassin Ochi of Bestoon. Vader survives every test his master sends him, and this takes him to the ancient world of Exegol, which we first saw in Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.
When Vader arrives to this ancient Sith home world, he sees several cloning jars, filled with failed clones of Supreme Leader Snoke, just like the ones we saw in The Rise of Skywalker. We can all see how the Emperor is always one step ahead, and is already planning the times of the First Order, since the times of the Empire.
We also see a jar with a right hand in it, and fans speculate that this might be the same hand Vader took from his son Luke Skywalker. Many fans also believe that Luke’s DNA, and Grogu’s, are used to create the clone Snoke we all saw in the sequel trilogy, as well as the clone of Emperor Palpatine we saw in The Rise of Skywalker. If this is the actual hand Vader cut off from Luke on Cloud City, this would explain why Snoke is extremely powerful, as he is carrying that amazing Skywalker DNA. The hand we see in the Vader comic has not been confirmed to be Luke’s hand, but if it is, it could explain many details on the successful creation of Snoke, and the clone of Emperor Palpatine.
The hand could also be just a regular hand, that Palpatine gathered in order to perform his unspeakable experiments, this hand could also belong to one of the many Jedi that survived Order 66, and were hunted down by Vader and his Inquisitors. Maybe many Jedi who were killed during the times of the Empire were used to successfully create Snoke and the clone of Emperor Palpatine. In the original Thrawn trilogy back in the Expanded Universe, Luke's hand was used to create an evil clone called Luuke Skywalker. So maybe something similar is going on here.
Many fans were very disappointed to know that Snoke was nothing more than puppet for Emperor Palpatine. Snoke seemed like an extremely powerful character, who could have led the whole sequel trilogy as the perfect antagonist. Even if several questions about Supreme Leader Snoke have been successfully answered, there are still many mysteries to be known about this dark and mysterious character. We know that Snoke is created by the Emperor, but where does his likeness comes from? Is his power just an illusion made by Palpatine? Does he know he is just a puppet? All these amazing questions are still yet to be answered.
Exegol is not only an ancient home for the Sith Order, but also an extremely important location for Emperor Palpatine, as it serves for his many Sith experiments, and to ensure his rule after his death on the second Death Star. Maybe this hand found on Exegol is Luke’s hand, or maybe it is just a regular hand. It was shown, so it must have meaning. If it is ever confirmed that it was in fact Luke’s hand, it will also show how evil itself can be brought back via the manipulation of DNA of a hero.
