'Star Trek: Prodigy' Becomes One Of The Kids Netflix Top Ten
Back at the beginning of 2023, Paramount+ was the “home of all things Star Trek” and then in June, that changed with their removal of the first season of Star Trek: Prodigy. As the first Star Trek show aimed at a younger audience, removing Prodigy was definitely an upset to the Star Trek fans. Prodigy and its creative team were looking for a new streaming service to have the show back up for audiences everywhere. Their mission was successful and soon, Netflix finally picked up Prodigy and the complete first season dropped on Christmas Day earlier this week. Within 24 hours of its rerelease, Prodigy climbed to #9 on Netflix’s ranking of Top 10 Kids TV Shows in the USA. As of December 27th, Prodigy is now at #6 on the same ranking and it is one of only two shows on the ranking that were recently added to Netflix.
In addition to the USA viewers ranking, the Netflix rankings for other countries also have Star Trek: Prodigy rising high -- the show is #1 in Germany this week and #6 in the UK. It’s on the Top 10 Kids TV Shows rankings in Australia, France, and Italy as well. This is also the first time that Prodigy has been available to several new international viewers for streaming, as Netflix has a larger global market than Paramount+. The second season of Prodigy has officially finished production, as well. There has not been a launch date yet, but we’re anticipating that we might see the series in the top half of 2024, airing on Netflix.
