A new overview trailer for Sonic Frontiers just stealth dropped onto the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter. The trailer goes over what to expect as the player explores the Starfall Islands. While there's little to no new information contained within the trailer, it does give a clearer synopsis of the story.

The trailer reveals that Sonic, Tails, and Amy came to the Starfall Islands in search of Chaos Emeralds. However, their plane gets sucked into a dimensional portal, and Sonic wakes up in a strange digital world known as “Cyberspace.” Sonic escapes Cyberspace and arrives on Kronos, the first of the Starfall Islands.

The trailer also shows new shots of the Kocos, the strange inhabitants of Starfall Island, more shots of the open-zone gameplay, and details regarding the flexible play styles of the title. Sonic Frontiers features a flexible play style that allows players to complete the game how they would like to, be it exploring the Islands and combat or speeding through the areas and Cyberspace levels. Speaking of which, the Cyberspace levels will be used to unlock vault keys that will unlock chaos emeralds that will allow Sonic to progress further in the game. Sonic's combat has also been upgraded, with the hedgehog sporting new ways to fight his enemies. However, those who do not want to focus on combat can opt to use the auto-combat mode that will execute the combos with the push of a button. Sonic Frontiers is shaping up to be the most versatile Sonic game yet, with some even saying that this may even bring back fans who have fallen off from the franchise:

Sonic Frontiers is set to speed onto all major platforms on November 8th of this year and is available for pre-order now.
