Shenmue: The Animation, the Toonami and Crunchyroll produced anime adaption of the Shenmue video game series, will not be coming back for season two. The show’s first season has been de-listed from the Adult Swim website. Other animated properties were also de-listed as well, including Fena: Pirate Princess, Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Lazor Wulf, and Tigtone.

Though the series had done well enough in ratings for a second season, it appears it will not be happening due to the current direction of Warner Brothers Discovery. Ever since the merger, animated properties have been getting written off rather frequently, including Final Space, which has been removed from all US platforms. Some speculated that the reason Shenmue: The Animation, Fena: Pirate Princess, and Blade Runner: Black Lotus were del-listed may have had something to do with them being co-productions with Crunchyroll before they were bought by Funimation, which is also owned by Sony, but it was confirmed that the shows were written off like Final Space. Though the shows that have been recently taken off Adult Swim's website have been written off, it's perhaps not as severe as the case with Final Space.

Shenmue is still available to watch in Japanese with English subtitles on Crunchyroll, as is Fena: Pirate Princess and Blade Runner: Black Lotus. It is unknown if they will be getting the dubs for these shows, however. This news is another devastating blow for the animation department of Warner Brothers Discovery.
