Is ‘God Of War: Ragnarok’ Getting Delayed Again?
There is a chance the highly anticipated God of War: Ragnarok release for the PlayStation 5 and PS4 may be the latest victim to fall prey to delay season.
Though Sony has not officially confirmed anything yet, rumors strongly suggest that Ragnarok, the sequel to the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful God of War (2018, PS4) is getting delayed into 2023. The delay may come as a surprise to some when considering the developers at the Santa Monica game studio have been steadfast in its 2022 launch window. Ragnarok has been delayed once already; it originally was slated for a 2021 release.
Rumors have ramped up despite other signs pointing to the contrary. South Korea's Game Rating committee recently issued a rating for Ragnarok, which usually is a strong signal that the game's release is imminent.
Much to the dismay of PlayStation fans, Ragnarok was missing from Sony's most recent State of Play; however, rumors suggest that Sony will reveal more about the game during today's Summer of Game Fest livestream. The event seemingly would be the perfect opportunity for Sony to reveal the release date.
If Ragnarok is delayed, it would be another in a growing list of triple-A releases that have been delayed. Nintendo's sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Bethesda's Starfield both have been pushed to 2023, as well.
