Ryan Reynolds Casually Announces ‘Deadpool 3’ Release Date And Another Actor's Unforeseen Return
Ryan Reynolds surprised Deadpool fans this afternoon with a new video on social media, finally announcing that Deadpool is coming back. In the video, Ryan Reynolds is sitting on the couch, causally announcing how they’ve been working on the film for a “good long while now.” This will be the first time we see Deadpool in the MCU, and he’s bringing someone important with him: Wolverine. Yes, that’s right, Hugh Jackman is coming back to play Wolverine once more.
When nothing new was shown about everyone’s favorite merc with a mouth at D23 this past month, fans were starting to worry about the future of Deadpool. When Disney acquired Fox, it was unclear what would happen to the franchise, and even Ryan Reynolds was concerned about the character’s fate. However, fans have to worry no longer, as we finally have an official confirmation that Deadpool 3 is happening.
Even though the character is now part of the MCU, the film will still be rated R. Ryan Reynolds is currently overseeing a script for the film. Sisters Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin are on board to write, and Shawn Levy (Free Guy) is on board to direct.
We first saw Wolverine and Deadpool together during an awkward encounter in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It’s an excellent day for Deadpool and Wolverine fans, as we’ll finally get to see these characters return and hopefully embrace the MCU.
Deadpool 3 is set to release on September 6, 2024.
