Ryan Coogler Wants To Be A Part Of The ‘Black Panther’ Franchise In The Future
Having already provided the MCU with two massive hits in Black Panther and its sequel, director Ryan Coogler wants to continue to be part of the franchise and hopes it can continue long after he leaves it. Speaking to The New York Times, Coogler had this to say.
“I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to work on these movies, bro. When I got asked to do the first one, it was like a moving train. I thank God every day that I was able to jump on it and meet these people, these actors, and to meet Chadwick during some of the last years of his life. I’ll do it as long as folks will have me. But I think it’s bigger than just me or Joe. Between the first and second movie, we made $2 billion at the box office, which is what matters the most to corporations. So I hope that it continues, man. I hope people are still making movies about Wakanda long after we’re gone.”
Coogler already has a hand in current MCU projects, so for the time being, he is not going anywhere. As executive producer on the Ironheart series, Coogler brought Ironheart to life in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Continuing her story with her own show for phase five of the MCU is surely something Coogler wants to see done right. Along with that is a currently untitled Wakanda Disney+ show that Coogler will be producing. So while Black Panther 3 seems a long time off, it does seem likely that when the day comes for it to be made, Coogler will be there to see it happen.
