Rupert Friend Recently Wrapped Shooting For 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Series
Obi Wan Kenobi. That's a name we haven’t heard in a long time, a long time. However, we may be hearing that soon according to The Hollywood Reporter, as wrapping for the Obi-Wan series on Disney+ may be done, at least for Rupert Friend, who has now begun working on a new project for Wes Anderson films. This is a good sign, meaning that production for the series is well underway and not as troubled by things like production issues or COVID. It will mean that, very soon perhaps, even next year, we will have Obi-Wan Kenobi back on our screens, albeit being small ones as we see his series come soon to Disney +.
The production of the Kenobi story has been one of mystery and back and forths, yet always with one distinct desire. Fans want to see Ewan McGregor play Obi-Wan Kenobi in between Episodes III and IV because now he is the perfect age for it.

The Kenobi series is one of the most anticipated events coming to Disney+, and for years has been one of the projects most demanded by fandom. For years, it has been a project going through several phases. For a few years, it was a movie, then a series. Then rumors saying it was back to a movie, before becoming a series again. Ewan McGregor has apparently been ready for this project for quite a long time, but had to lie and say that it wasn’t happening. The fact that they held that secret for so long is a testament to the secrecy that Lucasfilm wishes to preserve. Many thought it would be part of the first round of movies along with the sequel films, as well as Rogue One and Solo. However, with the Boba Fett film getting cancelled, many wondered if the Kenobi story would ever be told. It wasn’t until shortly before the launch of Disney + and the success of The Mandalorian that we finally got the announcement of the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney + series and eventually a reveal of six episodes of Obi-Wan adventure after Episode III.
Fans have always loved the character Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ewan McGregor especially has a place in many hearts from both prequel and even OT generations alike. He is now at the proper age to be making this series, and to tell the story. Hence why many fans have wanted this story for a while. Also to see Obi-Wan after Revenge of the Sith, dealing with the loss of his best friend Anakin, as well as just the rise of the Empire. We are likely to see a very broken Jedi Master. Someone deep in contemplation, and only after a while will he get to go on one more adventure. He might also have to deal with the knowledge that his former apprentice and friend is alive, and has now become the Sith Lord Darth Vader, a servant of the Emperor and the Empire.
So with all that pressure under its belt, the anticipation is now on. We have to wait and see just what exactly the story will entail. Disney+ right now has many shows coming to the roster, from Andor, to Mando Season 2, to The Bad Batch Season 2, and a whole host of other things. But the Kenobi story is one that still stands out among the rest of the batch.
Exciting times ahead for Star Wars, with all the shows coming to Disney+ fandom is gonna have a lot of content to explore and be excited about. The Obi-Wan series might have some big expectations behind it, but with a talented cast and crew to back it up, Star Wars fans are probably gonna be in for one heck of a experience as they see one of their favorite Jedi masters go on some fool's errand.
