When Should ‘Star Wars’ Be Just Okay

Star Wars is something that is important to each and every fan who watches it. We all hope for every project to change our lives in some way, to give us a brand new experience, or in some cases, to relive moments of the past. Some fans want to experience the same feelings they felt back in 1977 when A New Hope first came out.  With all the Star Wars content coming out in the near future, can all of it be as amazing as it was back in 1977? Should we as fans consider the option of whether or not Star Wars should just be okay. Not the best thing ever, and not the worst thing ever, but just okay.

Expectations

If there is one thing that is hard to shake off when it comes to Star Wars, it is expectations. We all want a Star Wars experience to have epic proportions. We all have our expectations, dreams, and even headcanons of what the story should be. We all want it to be one thing and sometimes it is not it. Some of that is okay. Other times, not so much.

So what happens when we enter into those times when Star Wars does not meet our expectations, or worse, when Star Wars just does not quite hit the nail on the head. How should one react to a Star Wars project that just does not reach those highs? Obviously, one can critique and it is fair game to talk about it. But sometimes Star Wars is going to be just okay, and that is okay.

No one wants just okay, but one cannot expect perfection every time. Now, that can be a bit subjective, but for those who think that the latest Star Wars is just okay, then it is okay. It is okay for Star Wars to be okay, to have just a fun story that everyone enjoys. At the end of the day, the whole point of Star Wars should be leaving someone with a sense of joy.

Joy is always important when it comes to Star Wars. Sure, execution may be wonky at times but as long as one gets a sense of fun and excitement from it, then it is worth happening.

Sometimes, okay is just okay. It is still worth it after all.

Critique Fair And Unfair

It is always okay to critique Star Wars. After all, we have our opinions. However, at the end of the day, nothing is good or bad. It is not completely binary. There are nuances. There is subjective taste. There are very unique ideas and perspectives that we come from when it comes to judging art and whatnot. Thus, it is okay to critique. On the other hand, it is also okay to accept when something just does not click with the viewer for a personal reason.

Sometimes, Star Wars is just not going to be a home run, for one reason or another. It may have been due to rushed production, bad ideas, or sometimes just pure bad luck. If we all had the formula for telling a good story, then we would all be making movies, and we would all be rich.

Star Wars has a vast array of stories under its belt. There are lots of chances to tell different stories. Some of them will be amazing, others will just be okay, and who knows about the others. But if Star Wars is just okay, it is not the end of the world. There is always new Star Wars on the horizon. As long as Star Wars brings joy then that is what matters at the end of the day. For joy is the reason why we love that galaxy far, far away.
