Robert Downey Jr. Looking To Star In Remake Of 'Vertigo', The Classic Hitchcock Film

In a time where it seems like absolutely everything is being remade, older works are being remade as well. Paramount is set to remake the 1958 film Vertigo. The original was one of Alfred Hitchcock’s phycological thrillers, which starred James Stewart as John “Scottie” Ferguson, and Kim Novak as Judy Barton / Madeleine Elster.

In the upcoming remake, Robert Downey Jr, known most recently for playing Tony Stark/Ironman in the MCU, is set to play the leading role. The original film was about a former San Francisco Police officer who wrestles with his demons while on the job, trailing a woman whom he begins to fall for. It was based on the 1954 book D’entre Les Morts. A survey in 2012 run by the British Film Institute’s Sight and Sound publication saw Vertigo in the number one spot, after spending previous decades climbing the poll each time. The poll is conducted once per decade. Although many works inspired by the movie have been made, there has never been a direct remake.
