REPORT: 'Andor' Set Photos Revealed!
The United Kingdom might be under the toughest level of Coronavirus restrictions at the moment, stopping production on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest extravaganza in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to a full blown stop, but the construction industry has been allowed to continue operations, which is good news for one of Disney’s other major properties involving a return to an era of a galaxy far far away involving Rebels.
The set looked like some sort of city that could have been built for the Disney+ Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. But thanks to Fantha Tracks, we know that the set photos are actually for the series Andor, a show that will take place between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy, at least prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna is set to reprise his role as Cassian Andor in the live-action "spy thriller" series. Alan Tudyk and Genevieve O'Reilly will reprise their roles as K-2SO and Mon Mothma, respectively, and the series is also set to feature Stellan Skarsgård, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Adria Arjona.
“Fantha Tracks have reviewed public records for the site, and we have been able to confirm that the set is in fact for ‘Andor.’ Whilst we won’t publish correspondence we have seen that confirms this as we wish to protect the private contact details of the people involved in the deal, we can show you picture proof that it is the Andor set below.”
The limited series will be 12 episodes, but who knows if any future chapters will be produced? COVID-19 had a huge domino effect for many hundred million dollar productions, and that’s one of the reasons the series’ production was delayed last year.
Shooting of the Star Wars series is still scheduled to begin in March, which at this moment looks as though it’s entirely dependent on how long the latest curbs remain in place, but work continues on building the massive sets required to bring a galaxy far, far away to life in Lucasfilm’s latest mega budget streaming exclusive.
British newspaper The Sun shows a set constructed on an abandoned quarry. Unfortunately, many upset residents at the village of Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire, close to the set, have taken an issue with the ecological impact, light pollution, and increase in traffic. The set features numerous buildings of all shapes and sizes as well as sizable tents to shelter cast and crew. Currently, none of the cast and crew were spotted on set.
An anonymous source said:
“This is a massive production and a hugely lucrative franchise – but obviously not everyone locally is pleased to see Disney moving in. “It might generate some jobs, but this is a pretty rural area which has always been quiet and peaceful – the thought of turning it into some sort of intergalactic war zone to make TV shows is horrifying.“The set is massive, with great big buildings on it alongside loads of heavy duty machinery coming and going - it’s just totally out of keeping with the countryside vibe here and people are up in arms about it.”
If the residents of Little Marlow are getting disgruntled with the increase in noise and traffic already, just wait until cameras start rolling and hundreds of cast and crew members arrive for work and begin blowing things up. Everyone else is hyped about new Star Wars content for Disney+, though. It’s a wonderful time for the fandom to being prepare for the upcoming onslaught of content from Lucasfilm!
Andoris currently filming while Obi-Wan Kenobi is expected to start production in March of 2021.
