Popular Multiplayer Game 'Among Us' Is Being Adapted Into An Animated Series
It’s a good day to be an imposter, as CBS Studios is working on an Among Us animated series in partnership with indie game studio Innersloth. The game is a multiplayer mafia-like, where a group has tasks to perform around the base while looking out for any suspicious behaviour that will reveal the imposters – whose job it is to kill the crew members until their numbers are equal. This animated series is based on that premise, which the official logline describes as “members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the ‘Imposter’ or fall victim to its murderous designs.”
The animation studio for the series will be Titmouse, whose previous works include Star Trek: Lower Decks and Big Mouth. Conversations are currently ongoing for a network or streamer to host the series. Owen Dennis will serve as creator and executive producer on the series, with Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser of Innersloth, and Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina of Titmouse also executive producing.
Among Us was released in 2018 to a muted reception. For two years, it had a small but dedicated fanbase, which skyrocketed when lockdowns across the world saw more people playing online games to keep in contact with friends. From that point, it became established within the gaming community, with many content creators aiding its sudden increase in popularity. Innersloth responded to that increased popularity by porting the game to new platforms and developing many new features for it.
