An upcoming update for the popular FPS game Overwatch, titled Overwatch 2: Invasion, is introducing all-new challenges and enemies.  The game developer Blizzard is also introducing a paywall for the update, making it unavailable without purchase. The first-tier Invasion Bundle will cost $15, while the second-tier Ultimate Invasion Bundle will cost $40.  This was announced in a blog post.

Entertainment media site IGN has received word from a Blizzard spokesperson confirming this in the following statement:

”Players must purchase either of the Invasion Bundles to access PvE. Missions won't be free, and access to Story Missions are part of the $15 bundle. This includes access to the content during the season and then access permanently after the season concludes."

The original blog post details what perks come with these bundles beyond access to the new missions. The Invasion Bundle will also come with “1,000 Overwatch Coins, a brand-new Sojourn Legendary skin,” and “permanent access to Sojourn as a playable hero for new players” after finishing the Story Missions.

The Ultimate Invasion Bundle provides all of the perks previously listed, with a few extras tacked on. This tier will include “the Null Sector Premium Battle Pass with 20 Battle Pass skips, an additional 1,000 Overwatch Coins, for a total of 2,000 Overwatch Coins,” and “two additional Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko.”

This update will drop on August 10, 2023.  It will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC!
