Did Marvel Accidentally Confirm A Moon Knight Season 2?
Over the past five weeks, I have been having a tremendous time watching Oscar Isaac in the Disney Plus series Moon Knight. For me, the series has been a refreshing addition to the MCU and I am excited about what Marvel may plan to do in the future with the characters. With Moon Knight nearing the end of its six episode run, fans are speculating as to when and where we will see Mark Spector and Steven Grant again.
According to Variety, Marvel originally had intended to submit Hawkeye and Moon Knight for Emmy consideration in the limited series category. Marvel had also intended to submit Loki too, but the series was later renewed for a second season. Loki was another Disney Plus show that was originally slated for a six episode run. The renewal of Loki has Marvel fans hoping and thinking that episode six of Moon Knight might not be the end for the fist of vengeance.

On Monday, Marvel Studios teased “the epic series finale” in a Moon Knight episode six trailer. Shortly after that post fans quickly noticed that a later post had the wording changed from “series finale” to “season finale”. This has led many fans to speculate that this means that we are getting a second season of the show. Fans quickly responded on Twitter.
One fan said, “Calling it a ‘season finale’ as opposed to a ‘series finale’ in the original tweet before it was deleted implies we’re getting another season….Moon Knight season 2 announcement incoming.”
Another fan said, “The fact that it says SEASON finale instead of SERIES finale gives me hope for a second season.
A second season of the show would certainly be welcome news for many Marvel fans. One of the reasons that fans are excited is because of how different it is from the rest of the MCU. In an interview with Variety, Actor Oscar Isaac and executive producer Mohamed Diab explained that the story of Steven Grant was already so psychologically complicated that there was little room to bring in other elements of the MCU. Diab stated: “As the show progressed, everyone felt, ‘Ok, you know what, we don’t need crutches. We can stand on our own.’” Oscar Isaac also added, “We wanted everything to feel like it was an internal expression of an internal struggle. And so the plot ties to other MCU things become much less important because the most important thing was an emotional truth to the journey that was happening.”
In the interview with Variety, Oscar Isaac also gave his thoughts about the future of Moon Knight and his contract with Marvel. “I had heard of the golden handcuffs,” Issac said. “That was something that I was reticent about. And luckily, we all agreed that this show is what we’re going to focus on. This is the story. And if there’s any kind of future, I think it just depends on if people like it, if people want to see more, and if we find a story that’s worth telling.”
Will there be a Moon Knight season 2? At this time nothing is certain, Marvel is keeping fans guessing which is something that Moon Knight season one has done a lot of. Ultimately, this slight change in wording may just be another tool Marvel is using to have us question what is real. The plot of episode six and any potential credit scenes may go a long way in foreshadowing what lies ahead for Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight.
