Avengers and Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd posted on his Instagram account this past Saturday, July 9th, a really emotional, inspiring, and heart-warming letter sent to a 12-year-old fan from Colorado. The hand-written letter was sent alongside an autographed Ant-Man helmet with a special message for the fan.

The fan, Brody Cooper, went through a challenging situation back in May. Cassandra Cooper's mom posted on her Facebook page that her son had only received four signatures on his school yearbook, two from teachers and two from fellow students (see below). She also explained in a conversation with the Washington Post that even though her son had friends in the previous school, he studied at, after switching to The Academy of Charter Schools (located in Westminster, CO), he started getting bullied and became very isolated. The school tried to solve the problem, but it continued.

In his Instagram post, Rudd wrote, “it is important to remember that even when life is tough that things get better.” The letter was sent just a short period after the actor, and the fan had a Facetime call, in which, according to the newspaper The Guardian, they bonded over mutual interests such as chess and dinosaurs. Another message in Cooper’s yearbook was quite similar to Rudd’s. Miss Kim, Cooper’s teacher, wrote, "you are such an amazing kid, and I truly believe you will accomplish great things.”

Cooper’s Facebook post helped the story to become popular in her son’s school, and while most of his classmates didn’t sign his yearbook, older students intervened and actually signed it. Ranging from eighth-graders to eleventh-graders, several students put their names in the book and even became friends with the Brody, and some, like Maya Gregory, promised “to be there for him” during the year if he ever needed it.

And oh boy, the story gets better and better. Besides gaining attention from the actor and older students, the cast of Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen, according to both People and Entertainment Weeklyinvited Brody and his mom Cassandra to the play, telling him to bring his yearbook so they could sign it as well. The cast also emphasized that Brody “is not alone” in the video message.
