Paramount+ And MTV Entertainment Studios Reveal Upcoming Lineup For New Streaming Service
March 4 will see the rebranding of CBS All-Access into Paramount+. The launch will serve to expand ViacomCBS' content in regards to broadcast, entertainment, news, and sports. Paramount+ will also be available internationally, starting with Australia, Latin America, and the Nordics this year.
At a presentation, Paramount+, along with MTV Entertainment Studios and Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, revealed some of the streaming platform's upcoming slate. It will include a prequel series to Yellowstone titled Y: 1883, which will focus on the Dutton family traveling westward through the Great Plains of the United States, a Western in which they hope to find an ideal home in Montana. Executive producers include Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari.
Another addition to the Yellowstone universe includes a spinoff with the working title Yellowstone Spinoff, 6666. The description for this one is as follows:
"Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing ... The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world class cowboys are born and made. The series will be executive produced by Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari."
Other announced shows include Land Man and Mayor of Kingstown.
In Land Man, viewers will be able to see the boomtowns of West Texas as roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fuel a big boom that ends up influencing geopolitics and the economy, among other things. Sheridan is the executive producer. Furthermore, producers for this series include David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari.
Mayor of Kingstown will be set in Kingstown, Michigan and deal with the topic of incarceration as it touches upon themes such as corruption, inequality, and systemic racism. Executive producers for this series include Sheridan, co-creator Hugh Dillon, Jeremy Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and Michael Friedman.
Paramount+ really seems to be gearing up with its releases, and we are sure to see more shows announced for this platform before and after the launch.
