'Star Wars' Confirms 'The High Republic' Will Roll Out In Three Phases
From a galaxy far away, a new era for Star Wars fans has arrived in the form of The High Republic. A multimedia project from Lucasfilm currently consisting of books, comics, and magazine stories, it is bringing us new characters like Leox Gaysi and Ty Yorrick, as well as a younger version of the ever familiar Jedi Master Yoda, to tell us about an era during which the Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy far, far away
This new saga is happening two centuries before the Skywalker saga, and it will unfold in three phases, the titles of which were revealed earlier this week:
- Phase 1: Light of the Jedi
- Phase 2: Quest of the Jedi
- Phase 3: Trials of the Jedi
The first phase has just started with the launch of the first books on January 5. On January 6, Marvel launched The High Republic comic series. And in February, a young adult novel titled Into the Dark will be released. Also in February, the comic series The High Republic Adventures will be launched by IDW. These stories will be told and furthered throughout 2021 and even going into 2022, with these titles being part of Phase 1.
Also, there is going to be a news show via the Star Wars YouTube channel called Star Wars The High Republic Show, with Krystina Arielle as a host who takes the fans behind the scenes with the creators, content development, news, and interviews through a bi-monthly show.
According to Michael Siglain, Lucasflim publishing creative director, all of this started with the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago in 2018, and he got the green light to start what they called at the beginning "Project Luminous." And on February 24, 2020, they officially announced that the project was The High Republic and that it would start 200 years before the Skywalker saga. The era finishes about 50 years before the Skywalker saga.

Siglain says, “Expect the unexpected in these books.” Also, one of the writers, Daniel Jose Older said, “These books are like not only for Star Wars fans, also for people who like to read. Even if you are not a Star Wars fan, you are going to say, these are amazing stories about magic and hope”.
The High Republic is based in the golden era of the Jedi, when they rule with justice in the galaxy, bringing to mind what Obi Wan Kenobi says to Luke in A New Hope: “For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times, before the Empire." And now The High Republic is showing us how the Jedi kept the galaxy safe as they discovered different evils in the galaxy far, far away.
The High Republic is something that you can read with your family and friends. Even the manga fans can read this, because The High Republic will have manga stories.
