Oscar Isaac Shares His Thoughts On New 'Star Wars' Luxury Hotel

As Disney's Galactic Star Cruiser, the Halcyon, launches on its maiden voyage, we are getting our first glimpses at what this luxury space experience has to offer. The pride of the Chandrilla shipyards, the Halcyon offers an immersive 2-night experience that allows fans and resort-goers alike to step into the Star Wars universe. With the overall popularity of Galaxy's Edge, Disney is eager to unveil their newest world of immersive entertainment. From the limited promotional media we've already seen, the Galactic Star Cruiser has a unique, polished, seamless look, and the potential to be an essential experience for Star Wars fans.

From an in-universe standpoint, the Galactic Star Cruiser experience takes place during the sequel era, specifically between the events of The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker. With that in mind, who better to take a closer look at the Halcyon than the best pilot in the Resistance, Poe Dameron. In a short promotional video on the Disney Parks YouTube channel, Oscar Isaac visits the luxury hotel and briefly describes what it has to offer and provides a Star Wars actors perspective on the authenticity and stage craft present onboard the star cruiser.

The video, seen below, was posted March 1st, the same day the hotel opened its doors. While this level of immersion or particular setting may not be everyone's cup of tea, even casual Star Wars fans can't help but have a passing interest in this kind of experience. As Isaac says in the video, the Halcyon is a very unique undertaking. The footage seen from within the hotel shows the numerous costumed actors employed to make the experience an enjoyable one for patrons. This includes uniformed crew members, dozens of stormtroopers, and a Rey vs Kylo duel that promises to be the peak of the onboard entertainment.

The resort promises a hands on experience, from lightsaber training, to shooting down TIE fighters, allowing Star Wars fans to live out their galactic fantasies. The Star Wars fan community is full of cosplayers and other hobbies full of imagination and creativity. There is no doubt that this experience will really speak to those members of the community and the fanbase in general. What Star Wars fan hasn't imagined what it would be like to pilot a X-Wing or duel a dark sider. Now the Galactic Star Cruiser offers fans an opportunity to live out those dreams in a unique setting.

While the price tag may cause a bit of sticker shock for the casual fan, there's a wide variety offered at the resort and multiple "storylines" to experience. With a full compliment of characters, from smugglers, to aliens (including classic Star Wars creatures like Rodian and Twi'lek), First Order and Resistance alike, the Disney Parks staff are committed to a believable in-universe, immersive experience for the guests. With these characters set against the backdrop of the Halcyon, it is easy to see how one could get swept up in the experience. Oscar Isaac even compares the resort to the sets he was on for filming of the sequel trilogy, saying that he was looking for the cameras during his stay.
