It seems like gamers will finally have a hands-on experience with Ubisoft’s pirate game, Skull and Bones. The game, which was announced back in 2017 during E3, was not delivered in time. Six delays prevented the game from being published, besides the issue of competition with Microsoft Studio’s Sea of Thieves in 2018.

Even though the game seems to have been delayed for some years, it was not abandoned. Since Ubisoft has already created a pirate-like experience in 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (one of the most beloved games in the franchise), fans may notice a few gameplay similarities between both IPs.

Ubisoft announced on their social media profiles a short video showing that there will be a closed beta (available only for those who already have bought this game) for Skull and Bones between August 25th and 28th. Players will need to register to take part in the beta, but will have the possibility of pre-downloading the game before the mentioned date. You can reserve a spot to play the beta here. Take a look below at the trailer:

As was mentioned previously, the gameplay will mirror Black Flag. This installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise is known for being a fan favorite, and the attractive possibilities of exploring the seas and living the life of a pirate from the 1700s became an essential reason why it was successful in the first place. Remove the AC lore and hidden blades, and what is left is an adventure that will probably make players all over the world fall in love with sea shanties once again.
