Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus Series Sizzle Reel

Attention Star Wars fans, for there has been a huge disturbance in the Force. Yes, finally, after all those painstaking months of waiting, the first teaser trailer for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been released in celebration of Disney Plus Day.

That’s right, we finally have our first glimpse at the new show and from what we see, it promises to be something special.

Despite the Prequel Trilogy getting some bad press back in the day, almost every Star Wars fan agrees that Ewan McGregor’s performance as the young Jedi we first meet in the Original Trilogy (played by the late great Sir Alec Guinness) was by far the best thing about it.

If you watch the films back-to-back, you see just how much McGregor grows with the role and how comfortable he becomes playing the iconic character.

Kenobi is easily one of the big MVP’s of the Skywalker Saga, in that he has a very personal relationship with both the main characters of the Prequel and Original Trilogy’s – Anakin and Luke Skywalker, and he is probably one of, if not the most recognised characters from the franchise. Some could even argue he has become a mascot of sorts.

When The Clone Wars film and TV series came about, we were given a chance to learn even more about one of our favourite characters and although not voiced by McGregor, you can’t say James Arnold Taylor didn’t do a great job. Having said that, ever since the titles ran on Revenge of the Sith, fans have begged and begged for McGregor’s return and when it was announced, a couple years back, that he would indeed be returning to the role, fans went absolutely nuts.

After the announcement, things went a little quiet with regards to how his return would come about, with there being uncertainty as to whether it would be a return to film or TV. It was then announced it would be a “limited” series, which didn’t seem to make sense at the time, however, makes complete sense now.

Disney and Lucasfilm came under some heavy fire following the release of their Sequel Trilogy, resulting in quite a large divide amongst the fan base. Also, their plan to make spin-off films, focusing on other characters from the main series, didn’t go so well when Solo: A Star Wars story failed to really get people excited.

This caused them to reconsider their approach to the future of Star Wars, with many announced plans being cancelled and their focus to shift onto TV shows, utilising the highly successful Disney+ streaming platform.

Over the last couple of years, this service has brought us so much Star Wars content, it’s literally been a joy to be a fan. Obi-Wan Kenobi will follow in the footsteps of The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, Visions and the Book of Boba Fett, making the streaming platform quite literally the home of Star Wars.

The new shows have definitely helped repair some of the damage caused by the Sequel Trilogy and Kenobi’s is easily the most anticipated of everything scheduled so far. Now, not only because of Ewan McGregor’s return, but also the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. It’s not clear just how that is going to work, but McGregor comments on this during the clip, expressing how happy the reunion made him.

No one knows just quite what will happen during this series, but one thing is for sure, we are in for a wild ride and this new teaser all but confirms it, so check it out below for yourself and be sure to let us know what you think:
