'Ahsoka' Series Reportedly Casts Its Sabine Wren

One of the most anticipated Disney+ series is the return of Ahsoka Tano in live action. It is said that she may reunite with various characters from her animated history. After much rumors and speculation it seems that the Ahsoka Disney+ series will finally have its Sabine Wren. According to Deadline, this famous animated character is about to make the jump to live action, and she will be played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. This will be a fun addition to this show and another addition to the growing cast of animated characters coming to live action in the new Star Wars era of Disney+.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo is a newcomer to the Star Wars galaxy. Her most famous work is the Netflix series The Society. It will be an interesting transition to say the least to fill the shoes of Sabine Wren. While she was not the original voice actress for the character, I am sure she will bring her own unique spin to the character, adding more depth to a quite colorful character with a rich history behind her, especially in the transition from animation to live action.

Sabine Wren is one of the more unique characters from Star Wars: Rebels. She is a Mandalorian who is also an artist. A warrior who is also a rebel. She is someone who did not really embrace her culture fully at the start of the series despite wearing the full armor as well as the helmet. In fact, she had more of a dark history regarding her people. Her time as part of the Ghost crew not only allow her to become a part of their family, but also help her reconcile with her former family and her people. It was quite an interesting arc for the young Mandalorian to be. Though the real question is what will be her role in the Ahsoka series. What is her next grand arc in the continuation of her story?

At the end of Rebels, Sabine's biggest mission was to find Ezra who had been taken by the Purrgil space whales and sent into the Unknown Regions along with Grand Admiral Thrawn’s forces. She was very much interested in reuniting with her friend. However since the Ahsoka series is a spin-off from The Mandalorian, one has to wonder if Sabine will connect back to the adventures of Din Djarin as well as Bo-Katan, who is seeking the Darksaber and the restoration of Mandalore.

At the beginning of season 4 of Rebels, Sabine was connected to the Mandalorians and their plight to free their planet from the Empire. She even wielded the Darksaber for a time before giving it to Bo-Katan to lead the Mandalorian forces. However, now that the Darksaber is in Din Djarin’s possession, will Sabine come across this rogue Mandalorian in her own quest to find her friend? What will her role be in the continued liberation of Mandalore from Imperial aggression? As someone who once wielded the Darksaber it would be interesting to see just how she related to Din.

Seeing the return of Sabine Wren and the continuation of her story is amazing and fun especially since she will be entering the wonderful world of live action. Hopefully her adventures will continue as she reunite with her friends. Perhaps, she will meet up with other living members of the Ghost crew. Maybe she will also make some new friends along the way. One can only hope that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will do justice to this amazing character who means so much to many fans of the galaxy far, far away.
