Nintendo Reveals 10 Minutes Of 'The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom' Gameplay With Producer Eiji Aonuma
The wait is over for all The Legend of Zelda fans around the world. It has been almost six years since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Today, Nintendo released a 10-minute video featuring the Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Aonuma kicks off the presentation by confirming development for the game is now complete, and the game is ready for release in May. He then goes through the game, describing it as a totally new experience like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s vast open world. From minute one he addresses the various changes they have made since the last game and repeatedly encourages players to explore all the secrets hidden across the map. The main feature presented is the new floating structures called “Sky Islands.” These floating islands present sort of a new world, with enemies and objects not found on the surface.

Next up, Aonuma discussed four of Link’s new abilities: “Recall”, “Fuse”, “Ultrahand” and “Ascend.” “Recall” allows the player to rewind the movement of an object. In the video, it is used to rewind the movement of a falling rock and use it to reach a Sky Island.
Unlike in Breath of the Wild, players will be able to acquire better equipment via a new crafting system. The “Fuse” ability allows players to fuse two objects together to increase their damage, durability, and even range. Mr. Anouma stated there is more to the system than stronger weapons so there are almost-infinite combinations from fusing all kinds of materials found around Hyrule.
Similar to “Fuse,” the “Ultrahand” ability allows the player to attach and build structures and tools to overcome the game’s challenges. Some vehicles and objects shown in previous trailers were created with the “Ultrahand” ability. This opens up the possibilities for traveling and puzzle-solving.
Lastly, the “Ascend” ability allows the player to pass through any ceiling, as long as there is a floor above it. While it is useful as a mountain-climbing tool, the ability can be use in other places, further opening up the world for exploration.
All these new abilities open a wide variety of possibilities in the new game, creating a unique experience for every player. You are only limited by your imagination.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases on May 12, 2023 for Nintendo Switch and the hype could not go any higher from here.
