New 'Star Wars: The Bad Batch' Poster Revealed
The Bad Batch, Disney’s spin-off series to-, or – as some say, season 8 of – The Clone Wars, will premiere on Disney+ on May 4, the unofficial Star Wars Day.
In order to heighten the expectation for this fourth animated Star Wars series of the modern era (not counting the various animated shorts or Lego content), StarWars.com released a new poster:
This shows all the members of the titular Clone Force 9 in their typical attire: Hunter the leader of the group, Crosshair the cynical sniper, Tech the brain of the group, Wrecker the muscle, and Echo the cyborg who joined the Bad Batch in season 7 of The Clone Wars after being rescued from the Separatists.
Also on the poster is Omega, the female child who was introduced in the trailer. A girl who meets the modified clones on Kamino, she interestingly knows them all by name and seemingly admires them. She is later offered the chance by Hunter to leave the watery planet and to accompany the clones on their missions. How Omega knows about the five clones and why she is so important that the Bad Batch is taking her with them will only be revealed on the show.
Looming above the group of heroes is Palpatine/Darth Sidious in a form of a hologram, which is grey instead of the usual blue. Although it hasn’t been officially been confirmed, it is most likely that Sam Witwer will be voicing the Emperor again, like he has done on Star Wars Rebels.
The poster also includes the “Havoc Marauder,” the modified transport and gunship that is the personal vessel of the genetically altered clones. This ship was first seen in the Bad Batch arc at the beginning of season 7 of The Clone Wars, and it still acts as the home of the clone commando. In the right top corner, there is an Imperial class 4 container transport, which is approaching a red-brown planet with a moon in the background. This planet might be Zygerria, the slavers’ world that was introduced in season 4 of The Clone Wars. In the bottom right corner, there is a crashed Star Destroyer surrounded by other wreckage and what seems to be a Nu-class attack shuttle flying above, while the bottom left corner shows two clones watching a giant explosion, a scene that was also included in the trailer.
Notably absent from the poster are a few other characters that have been confirmed to appear in the series: Fennec Shand the sniper introduced in The Mandalorian and will be portrayed once again by Ming-Na Wen, Saw Gerrera the freedom fighter from The Clone Wars who later helps Jyn Erso in Rogue One, Rex the clone who helps Ahsoka escape from Mandalore and later joined the Rebel Alliance, and the classic villain Wilhuff Tarkin.
Together with this poster, StarWars.com also revealed another Twitter emoji, depicting the helmet of Hunter.
Just type #thebadbatch and the emoji will be automatically added. Unfortunately, the emoji is limited to Twitter and isn’t available for messenger apps as well.
Of course, this isn’t the first Star Wars Twitter emoji and it will most probably not be the last. Lucasfilm released the first three Twitter emojis – C-3PO, a First Order Stormtrooper, and BB-8 in April of 2015, shortly before Celebration Anaheim. Since then, more than 40 of these cute little icons have come (and gone), including characters and vehicles from all nine films of the Skywalker saga, as well as from The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Mandalorian. Hunter's helmet surely won’t be the last one.
