Recently, Jon Favreau spoke with Moovy TV, which revealed Lucasfilm has discussed with the co-creator of The Mandalorian potential future projects set after the events of the last trilogy of films. Favreau explicitly explained how he finds inspiration from various works across the entire Star Wars canon. He noted that several shows he is working on would involve a longer period than the most recent films.

Favreau said, “There’s definitely a conversation that’s going on. And then, also, what happens after the sequel trilogy? Because the sequel trilogy only takes place over the course of a few years. And it’s a big thing on the screen, and it’s very eventful. But it is a relatively brief moment in history over the course of the thousands of years that Star Wars takes place.”

The official timeline between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi is approximately a week. In contrast, most events within The Rise of Skywalker occur within one day a year after the event of The Last Jedi. However, as fans of The Mandalorian know, there is not a clear timeline set with Favreau's galactically successful series on Disney+.

As for projects moving forward, Favreau said, “And so what happens after it (the sequel trilogy) is interesting too, and I know that there’s some discussion, exploration going on about what happens after it. So I think that there are certain markers that we have…where you kind of know a few things that happen, but there’s a lot of murkiness in between, and we just don’t have archaeological evidence in the real world to know exactly what happened, so we kind of connect the dots.”

Fans can only do their best to wait for what new projects Jon Favreau will be attached to, potentially in the future.

The third season of The Mandalorian is now streaming on Disney+.
