New 'Andor' Set Photos Reveal New Spaceships For Show
If one were to go back in time to ten years ago and say that there would be multiple live-action Star Wars shows running simultaneously after the release of a sequel trilogy and a couple of spin-off films, probably very few would have believed it. And yet here we are, with the first live-action Star Wars show The Mandalorian having graced the screens, and a bunch of other live-action Disney+ shows known to be on the way.
One that we have known about for quite a while now, even before the Disney Investors Day announcement last December, is Andor, the prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story focusing on the character - you guessed it - Cassian Andor. The show is said to begin five years before the events of the aforementioned film, with Diego Luna reprising his role so that the character may be more fleshed out. Alan Tudyk has also said that the plan is for him to reprise his role as K-2SO in a later season. Genevieve O'Reilly is also set to reprise her role as Mon Mothma. So fans can expect for the show to connect pretty well to how we see the characters in the film that introduced them back in December 2016. Additionally, there have been a few other names announced to be part of the cast in unknown roles: Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller. It will probably be a while before we know their exact roles.
While details regarding the story of the show have been quiet so far, that has not stopped set photos from surfacing onto the internet. Recently, Star Wars Sessions posted multiple photos which, according to them, come from the set at the abandoned Coryton Refinery in Essex, England. You can take a look below:
Star Wars Sessions also says:
"As a side note, a source with close ties to the location informed SWS that they had spotted what seemed to be a “ship” on the back of a vehicle covered in tarpaulin in the early hours of the morning. Based on the description we were given, this would seem to indicate a landspeeder (more akin to the models in the opening chase scenes in Solo) than a ship. This particular source had no prior knowledge that a Star Wars project was being shot in Coryton.
The general vibe and aesthetic of Coryton Refinery are entirely industrial, so could we be heading back to Corellia now that Fawley Power Station has been demolished? Maybe the grittier side of Coruscant? Or could we be heading to a new location entirely? We’ll find out over the coming months, but, one thing is for sure – elements of Andor were shot here in Essex."
Bespin Bulletin has also posted photos of the ships and vehicles on the set, which you can view in the gallery below:
The ships and vehicles pictured certainly do seem like the type of machinery that the Rebel Alliance would use. Wherever this takes place in-universe, we are sure to see more sides of the Rebel Alliance onscreen. They are often depicted as the virtuous "good guys," but Rogue One presented the idea that some members of the organization, Cassian included, have to do morally questionable things in order to further the fight against the Galactic Empire. However the story ends up playing out, it is sure to be the talk of the fandom as the episodes get released. Andor is expected to air on Disney+ in 2022.
