Welcome back, Marvel fans. Today, we bring you an update regarding the production of the Disney+ Marvel series Ms. Marvel. Despite the resurgence of COVID-19 in the area, production seems to have wrapped, meaning it may not be long before a trailer drops. A teaser trailer was released back in December 2020, before filming moved from Georgia, U.S to Thailand.

Within the trailer Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, described the character as "one of the newer characters in the Marvel Comics Universe." Ms. Marvel will see the introduction of the title character, also known as Kamala Khan, and will apparently be six episodes long, focusing on the New Jersey teenager discovering her new found powers, learning more about herself and building relationships with the people around her. For those of you who haven't seen the teaser, check it out below:

We still don't know much about the actual plot details themselves, but the lead role will be played by Iman Vellani, and the vast majority of other roles will be played by a significantly Asian cast, something Marvel Studios has been praised for due to them being much more inclusive of other ethnic backgrounds in their productions.

The same is true for the production and directing team, with two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directing episodes four and five entirely in Thailand, along with Bisha K. Ali serving as co-writer and showrunner, and three other directors - Adil El Arbi, Billal Fallah, and Meera Menon. Sets were constructed at the modern Studio Park facilities in the south east of Bangkok.

During filming, a third wave of COVID-19 arose in Thailand. However, production was left unaffected due to the measures taken by the team working on the show. The team were able to obtain a waiver and continue filming due to them already observing strict COVID guidelines and dividing the units into three separate bubbles which helped ensure that if someone in one bubble became infected, the other two could continue to work on. They also ensured that all those on set followed strict anti-virus protocols by wearing masks and face shields, closing sets not needed at that specific time, and testing those on site twice a week.

As for when we may see the new show premier, the series has been slated for a late 2021 release on Disney's streaming service Disney+. However, with filming now wrapped, we may get a more definitive release date sometime in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Until next time!
