Last year’s major hit Everything Everywhere All At Once has collected quite the cabinet of accolades this awards season. So many that, according to IGN’s math, it has dethroned the previous king. That being The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

To be fair to Return of the King, IGN looked for those organisations that had recognised both films. Across those 45, Everything Everywhere All At Once beat Return of the King in both wins and nominations. For awards, that figure comes to 138 to 127. For nominations, the figure lands at 295 to 189. And for one more stat, the number of organisations that gave the films an award is a close one at 39 to 37.

As a bit of fun, IGN also counted every single award and nomination that both films had received across their respective awards season. Everything Everywhere All At Once wins that one, as well. With 336 awards compared to Return of the King’s 213, and 691 nominations compared to 337, it is a very big landslide of a win.

There is no doubting the success of Everything Everywhere All At Once, which also brought about some historic firsts at the SAG Awards. Michelle Yeoh won the best actress film award, the first Asian to do so. Meanwhile, Ke Huy Quan won the outstanding supporting actor in film award, the first Asian male to do so.

Of course, the award season isn’t over yet, meaning that Everything Everywhere All At Once is likely to take home even more awards.
