'Moon Knight' Actress Opens Up About Her Character

Moon Knight was released to the world March 30th, and it's already gathered overwhelmingly positive reviews with Oscar Isaac playing Steven Grant and Marc Spector. Other important players include Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow, and May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly who made her physical appearance in the 2nd episode, Summon the Suit.

Another interesting Moon Knight character is Donna, played by the witty Lucy Thackeray. Donna is Steven Grant's boss at the museum's gift shop, based in London, and it seems the two characters may have a rather rich history that stems far beyond the inventory room.

The Direct sat down with Lucy for an in-depth and exclusive interview regarding her character Donna, how deep Donna and Steven's past runs, as well as how she prepared for the role. Lucy spoke about who she thought her character was at first, Donna Kraft, and how different the two characters turned out to be. Donna Kraft in the Earth 616 universe has an interesting relationship with Marc Spector, but not as his boss.

Donna Kraft was Marc Spector's publicist at SpectorCorp, a company formed by Marc to assist him with his Moon Knight-related activities. Donna Kraft continued to appear in 10 issues of Moon Knight's Earth-616 run, even becoming something of a hero herself when rescuing a close friend, Marlene Alraune, from Hook, or Hellbent, at the very last minute! The Donna that we are seeing is very much an original character, seemingly meant only to be the bad guy in Steven's life before he finally comes to the exciting face-off with Arthur Harrow.

Lucy took a moment to thank her sister for helping her obtain issues of the Moon Knight comics to familiarize herself with the Marvel story she was about to step into for the first time. Lucy also went on to thank her relationship and chemistry with Oscar for pulling off such an interesting dynamic, stating that the two had a lot of fun growing Steven and Donna's "master and servant" relationship.

Currently, despite how great her performance is, there is no word on if Lucy will continue appearing in Moon Knight as we move forward with this crazy, twisted story. I am sure I can speak for other viewers when I say that it would be an absolute treat to see her witty personality and sarcastic responses onscreen again. Who knows what banter could be heard if there was ever an opportunity for Donna to witness all the crazy twists and turns in the show. Or, would Steven bore her to death with constant facts about the rich Egyptian history (which happens to be my favorite part) that is clearly front and center in the show? How would her personality mix with Marc Spector at the helm? Or, would she even believe what she was seeing and hearing in the first place?

I think it's safe to assume that Donna would be in for quite a shock to know that Steven has a few secrets that even he is not quite able to unravel. I look forward to seeing the rest of this series, and hope that Donna will be back in some capacity so that we can see if she is a part of this mystery. However, as the show moves on, it looks as if we will be seeing more of the world, and less of the museum gift shop.
