Monk Fans Rejoice! A 'Monk' Movie Is In The Works At Peacock With Tony Shaloub Returning To His Role As Monk
Everyone loves a good detective story, searching for clues and catching criminals. Adrian Monk will be back sooner than later for everyone who enjoys puzzles and good characters. Adrian Monk is a detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). At the beginning of the story, Monk loses his wife, an event that triggers a mental breakdown, destabilizing his life entirely. Monk spent the following years isolated in his house, trying to recover with the help of Sharona, his assistant.
For 7 years, 8 seasons, and 125 episodes we followed Monk’s adventures and now Peacock is preparing a glorious return for the detective. The NBCUniversal-owned platform green-lit the project after Andy Breckman reached out with a fresh idea.

“When creator Andy Breckman came to us with a new Monk case set in the present day, we immediately fell in love with this story all over again,” said Michael Sluchan, executive vp movies, kids and daytime at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.
Adapting a show to the modern era is always a challenge but the executives at NBCUniversal are confident that the newest projects will make fans “(…) love how this creative team was able to preserve all that we admire about Adrian Monk while bringing him into the present,” said UCP President Beatrice Springborn.
The reported creative team consists of Andy Breckman, Randy Zisk, David Hoberman, and Tony Shalhoub, returning as Monk. Many cast members like Ted Levine, Jason Gray-Stanford, Traylor Howard, Melora Hardin, and Héctor Elizondo will return to their original roles.
Now only time will tell if the project maintains the essence of the characters that left us in 2009 and provide us with an entertaining movie all fans, old and new, can enjoy.
