What New Leaked Set Photos Reveal About 'The Mandalorian' Season 3

Warning: Possible Spoilers For The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian!

As we continue to surf the great wave through the 2022 Star Wars we are still ways away from The Mandalorian Season 3. But perhaps we are not as far away as one would think. While the show is still in production, there are going to be a few leaks and things here and there throughout the production timeline, and the world of Star Wars Leaks and the brave folks ready to post them have delivered the goods.

The r/StarWarsLeaks subreddit has posted images from what they say is from The Mandalorian Season 3. The pictures include an array of red Mandalorian helmets, the hallway of a Star Destroyer hallway, and a cockpit gun spot. They are all very interesting. However, what stands out the most are the helmets.

Mandalorian helmets are a dime a dozen in Star Wars, but red ones are interesting for a variety of reasons. Red is normally indicative of the dark side of the Force, especially the Sith. In the Clone Wars, red Mandalorian armors were worn by the "Mauldalorians" or what fans called Mandalorians who served Darth Maul during the Clone Wars. On the other hand, those who wear red armor in the post-Return of the Jedi era would be the members of the Sith Eternal cult, a group loyal to Emperor Palpatine in the hidden world of Exegol.

Of course, all of this is speculation, but the red helmet is an interesting choice. We know that not all Mandalorians are loyal to a single cause. They are divided by their houses and clans. Their loyalties and opinion on the Mandalorian way vary from group to group. Could it be that there are Mandalorians loyal to the Sith? Those loyal to the dark side?

In Legends, the Mandalorians were allies of the Sith, constantly working with them during the ancient Jedi and Sith wars, often a third faction that the Jedi had to deal with back in the days. So it begs the question of whether or not the Mandalorians will ally with the Sith again or whether some will ally with the Sith in the post-Endor era.

It would be odd given what the Empire did to their homes, but not all Mandalorians are as honorable as our hero Din Djarin. Some of them are a lot more self-serving and will not hesitate to side with those who have desecrated their homes. It is possible that some Mandalorians may still work for the Imperial Remnant after the destruction of the Empire, if not on a pure survival instinct level.

Now as for the Star Destroyer and the gun turret, those are standard Star Wars stuff. It will be cool to continue to see more Imperial facilities as the series continues. Din will still probably be on the radar of Moff Gideon. Even though [spoiler alert] he is still in jail, he will still find a way to pull the strings in all of this. The Grand Moff of the Empire is still a player, although his specific role is hard to say.

As The Mandalorian continues one has to wonder what its connection to the wider story of Star Wars is. At the end of the day, Star Wars is an interconnected cinematic universe, so perhaps as we get closer past Endor, we will start entering the realm of the sequel era. Again we do not know for sure, but it will be interesting to see as The Mandalorian continues to Season 3 and beyond. Then, of course, there is how the wider Mandoverse will play out as we continue to expand the story of that galaxy far far away. It will be interesting, to say the least.
