Michael Gandolfini Joins The MCU With 'Daredevil: Born Again'
Marvel has reportedly cast Michael Gandolfini in its upcoming revival series Daredevil: Born Again. According to Deadline, the actor could play Liam, an ambitious man from Staten Island who is set to have a major role in the series.
Created by writer Matt Corman and executive producer Chris Ord, Daredevil: Born Again is still a total mystery. Little is known about the series other than the title. The plot is kept under wraps, and nothing is certain casting-wise. Even actress Deborah Ann Woll says she still has not gotten a call from Marvel to reprise her role as Matt Murdock’s friend, Karen Page. Alongside Gandolfini, only Charlie Cox, and Vincent D’Onofrio are confirmed to be reprising their roles as Matt Murdock and the crime lord Kingpin, respectively.
RELATED:
Gandolfini is mostly known for his portrayal of young Tony Soprano in the crime drama film The Many Saints of Newark (2021), a prequel to The Sopranos (1999) in which his late father played antihero Tony Soprano. He also played in the crime drama The Offer and in the political film The Independence, in which the roughness is on par with Daredevil’s original show.
The upcoming 18-episode Daredevil series will center on Matt Murdock’s legal and superheroic’s endeavors in Hell’s Kitchen as he fights against crime and his forever nemesis, Wilson Fisk. Right now, we can only wonder how Gandolfini’s character will fit between these two poles and what business brings him to Hell’s Kitchen.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to release in 2024 on Disney+.
