Mena Massoud Shows Up As Ezra Bridger In Jaw-Dropping Concept Art

I think about Ezra Bridger all the time. When Star Wars Rebels started, I worried that the character would take after the too immature live-action Anakin. Thankfully, I was wrong. By the end of the series run of Rebels, Ezra Bridger proved to be a fantastic character that everyone adored. The finale ensured that there was indeed more to come. Now that we fans have a live-action Ahsoka, we want and deserve a similar Ezra.

Thus far, many actors have been fan-cast to play their favorite Rebel. Even the actors themselves have gotten in on the fun. For example, actor Rahul Kohli joked around so much on his Instagram and Twitter feeds about the possibility of him getting to play the role; many believed it to be true. Soon after, though, he confessed to having a bit of fun with his fans.

At the end of the Rebels series, Ezra Bridger takes his battle with Grand Admiral Thrawn into the Unknown Regions of the galaxy. One of the lines uttered by Dawson’s Tano is a question about the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn. This one line teased the possibility of an appearance by either or both Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Enter Instagram user @ApexForm. Last month, they created a stunning image of Mena Massoud as Ezra Bridger. The rendered image went viral. Fans of the character and the actor both fell in love with the idea. The image and fan enthusiasm for it gave Mena Massoud enough of a nudge to convince him that he would be great for the part.

With all of the new Star Wars programs running currently and promised in the near future, we fans are hopeful to learn the fate of Ezra Bridger once and for all. They have already introduced a few characters from the animated series into live-action shows such as The Mandalorian. Season 2 was a die-hard Star Wars fan’s delight. We finally saw Rosario Dawson as the live-action version of our beloved Ahsoka Tano. Katee Sackhoff returned to our screens in her debut as the live-action version of Bo-Katan Kryze. She was the voice of Bo-Katan in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels animated shows.

More surprising was the inclusion, or re-introduction for some, of Cobb Vanth, portrayed by Timothy Olyphant. Fans first met Vanth when he made his first appearance in the 2015 novel Star Wars: Aftermath. The cameos of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett were also wonderful surprises. With the number of surprises in only its sophomore run, fans are eager to learn what will happen in season 3 of The Mandalorian. Top on the list is the fate of Ezra Bridger.

Mena Massoud is now top on the list to portray everyone’s favorite Rebel. Though Lucasfilm is traditionally reserved about its casting choices, thanks to ApexForm, we have a taste of Mena Massoud in that role.

ApexForm created a convincing rendition of Mena in the role. In the image, you can see what he looks like in Ezra’s Wren Phoenix crested orange jacket and his second lightsaber built after Darth Vader destroys his original one on Malachor. The image also takes into account the scar the Grand Inquisitor gave him.

Even before this image emerged on the net, Massoud was considered a likely candidate to play Kanan Jarrus’ Padawan. Massoud himself is also keen on playing Ezra, too. The young actor leveraged his social media presence to bolster the fan enthusiasm that he should get the part. Fans want him in the role. Massoud wants the job. All that is left is for Lucasfilm to finalize the deal.

What do you think? Should Mena Massoud play Ezra?
