Max Drops Trailer For New Animated Series 'Gremlins: Secrets Of The Mogwai'

Gremlins: Secrets Of The Mogwai is a kid-friendly, animated prequel to the popular Gremlins films, first announced in 2019. The season length is eight episodes. The show’s first teaser trailer debuted as future programming on the streaming service Max, which was HBO Max until a few weeks ago. The show takes place during the 1920s in China and introduces the Wing family, who encounter the young Mogwai called Gizmo for the first time.

Sam Wing is the young man who decides to take on the adventure of returning Gizmo to his home world and traveling the Chinese countryside. Wing and Gizmo are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist who wants to capture Gizmo to include in his army of evil Gremlins. Gremlins fans will recognize this young man as the future shop owner Mr. Wing from the 1984 film.

The cast of Gremlins: Secrets Of The Mogwai is stacked with players such as Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian), James Hong (Big Trouble in Little China), BD Wong (Jurassic World), Matthew Rhys (Perry Mason), and AJ LoCascio (Voltron: Legendary Defender). Billy Petlzer will be a guest star along with Zach Galligan. Other actors attached to the project at Sandra Oh, Randall Park, George Takei, and Bowen Yang. Fans did note how Howie Mandel was missing from the cast list. Mandel voiced the creature in the films.

Gremlins: Secrets Of The Mogwai debuts in May on Max.
