Marvel Reveals First Look At 'Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania' Poster At San Diego Comic-Con
Among the many Marvel reveals at this year’s San-Diego Comic Con was the poster for the third Ant-Man MCU feature, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Even from a brief glance at the image, it’s obvious that two new-but-familiar characters will appear, connecting the movie with other Marvel media and storylines.
Firstly, Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie will take her place in combat next to her father, in a purple Pym-tech suit. Secondly, in the background looms the figure of Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors.
RELATED
Cassie’s path to heroism is not unexpected; in the comics, she goes by the name “Stature” and is part of the Young Avengers, along with other youthful characters who have recently started appearing in the MCU (Kate Bishop, America Chavez). In this film, Cassie will be played by Kathryn Newton, despite being played by Emma Fuhrman in Avengers: Endgame.
Kang the Conqueror is a time-lord that first appeared in the comics in the 1960s. We saw a variant of his character in the Loki series who went by the name “He Who Remains,” also played by Jonathan Majors. In that scene, he warned of other time-traveling beings like him who waged multiversal war…perhaps Scott and Hope’s involvement with the quantum realm and time travel will lead to the return of Loki variants to the MCU silver screen? Such connections would begin to illustrate how all the different puzzle pieces of Phase Four eventually begin to fit together.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives in theatres on July 28, 2023.
